History of Our Lady of Angels Church, Puducherry

Dating its history back to the 18th century, the construction of the Church of Our Lady of Angels began on 14th May 1851 under the guidance of the architect “Louis Guerre”. It took 4 years to complete its structure and finally, in May 1855, the church was officially opened to the public.

However, due to some unknown reasons, in the year 2009, the renovation work started in the church to change its look and the entire program was carried out under the guidance of the Association of Friends of Pondicherry Heritage. It continued until the first quarter of 2012 and on 4th March 2012, when the renovation work got finished, the refurbished church was blessed by Antony Anandarayar, who served as an Archbishop of Pondicherry.

Entry Fee and Timings of Our Lady of Angels Church, Puducherry

There is no entry fee to visit Our Lady of Angels Church in Puducherry. It welcomes its visitors from 5:30 AM to 12:00 PM and then from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on all days.
